Background & Qualifications
Ken has been doing triathlons
since entering a short event in Bellingham, WA in 1992. With
no athletic background and no idea what to do, it was a very
humble beginning to what has become a passion in his life.
Since then, through progressive, consistent training and study
Ken has improved his performance. The highlights of his competitive
career include:
- Five times Ironman Canada finisher
- 1994 through 2002
- Ironman Wisconsin finisher- 2004
- Kona qualifier - Two trips to the Ironman World Championships - 2002 & 2006
- Ironman
PR of 10:04 (59 minute swim, 5:19 bike & 3:39 run)
- A multitude of Half Ironmans and
marathons
2010 is Ken's sixth year coaching
triathletes in Kansas City and nation-wide.
Midwest Triathlon Coaching has a 0% DNF record and has help more athletes accomplish their goals than any other coaching company in the area. Since the 2007 season MTC coached athletes have raced over 20 Ironmans and 90 Half Ironmans. With Ken as their coach, 34 athletes have successfully completed their first Half Ironman including 11 people at IM Kansas 70.3 on June 6, 2010.
Ken is constantly improving his knowledge
and skills as a coach and became a USAT
Level I Certified Coach in 2008 and was re-certified in 2010.
As a coach, employee, father, husband
and athlete Ken has a busy schedule and fully understands that
athletes don't have time to waste on unproductive training
activities. Ken appreciates the requirements of many who are
trying to balance triathlon with family, work and other commitments.
Ken's clients have all athletic abilities from beginners to advanced and include attorneys, physicians, entrepreneurs & executives as well as stay-at-home moms & college students.
